Our Creator God designed all people in the same image -- His image (Imago Dei). And He united us all in one race -- the human race. We’re all born with various shades of skin, but He made no shade superior or inferior to another (Romans 2:11). God takes great delight in the variety of our sizes, shapes, colors, and backgrounds. This is why when we speak with a voice of solidarity, embracing both our unity and diversity in Christ, there’s great power. God longs to use the lives of those of us who’ve been redeemed by Jesus as His channels for peace, vessels for reconciliation, and distributors of love.

Fasting on the National Day of Prayer

Fasting is the spiritual discipline of abstaining from food and/or drink for a period of time in order to draw near to God or seek God’s movement in some manner. It’s an act of worship that’s often accompanied by prayer and repentance. This Thursday, some of us in the VBC community are corporately participating in a fast (on the National Day of Prayer). The reason we’re fasting is to ask God to move our nation to behold His glory and to respond through repentance and revival!

A Very Special Mother's Day

This Mothers’ Day will be very different for most families. Instead of doing some of the activities that we generally think of when we celebrate our moms, this day may involve sheltering in place or practicing social distancing. While this Sunday will be an adjustment for many, nonetheless, thoughtful, caring words and acts of kindness can still go a long way to be an encouragement for our moms.
